Hey ladies! I have a 14 month old little girl, who's a pretty easy going baby. Recently she has started to become very very clingy and affectionate towards me. I'm a stay at home Mom, so I'm with her all of the time obviously. I just didn't expect this sort of thing to happen at the stage in her life. I thought seperation anxiety happened earlier (she doesn't neccessarily do it when I'm leaving either so doesn't really fit the SA theory). She will walk up to me constantly and grab my legs to be picked up, if I don't she starts crying. She also runs up to me and gives me little hugs all day long. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE attention but I'm wondering where it's coming from.

My poor little girl! What's going on? Help!

It does usually happen earlier, or at least it's supposed to, but as with all milestones and behaviours kids don't always follow what the books say. I've also been told however that the seperation anxiety or clinginess can happen at various stages and come and go at any time, especially if there are any changes to their lives or routines (no matter how minor).

She's not teething or sick as far as I know...no other obvious signs of it at least. I'll pay close attention though in case that might be it.
She used to just be in her own little world, no cares...then POOF! I'm sure it's normal. It just came on so unexpectedly. I was worried maybe I wasn't giving her enough attention...which I know I am..probably TOO much actually!! LOL
Thanks for your feedback!

In my opinion NORMAL.. my daughter did the same thing.. it is about 14 months when they start figuring out that they are seperate beings from mom so. Therefore, they become clingy. My daughter is now 22 months and she is starting to do a little better with seperation. Fear starts setting in at this age as well so - i believe she is just fine.. i noticed that when i purposefully picked her up, hugged her, squeezing her she would ask to get down.. over do it and she may be better with it.
