How can i get my two yr old to stop biting? She bites me, daddy, and also her little sister!! Its mostly when she pretends she is a dog, and we dont even have a dog!! I dont want to stop her "imagination" but am tired of the bruises.

I have been reading a lot of  books recently on this since my 18 month old daughter has started biting as well.  She always bites when she gets really excited.  The books say that biting is usually as a result of not being able to express an emotion(anger, excitment) with words and it comes out thru biting.  They say never make them feel bad about not controlling their emotions and that you need to look for ques that result in the biting.  They say to provide something else for them to bite.  The books say that in time they will out grow out of the biting when they find the means to express and have self control.  So I am just trying to hang in there until she grows out and playing a little defense from my little girls chompers.

You need to tell her that teeth are not for biting mommy/daddy/sister  and it hurts when you bite. THen give her something she CAN chew on. a teether, a toy explain that it's ok to pretend to be a dog and that if she wants to bite then she can bite that specific thing (try a squeaky dog toy just wash it well first) some kids just need something to chew, especially if she's getting her two year molars in) If and when she does bite you tell her that it hurt you and put her in a two minute time out. Good LUCK!!
