2 yr. old in desperate need of a haircut but refuses

Does anyone have any tips for me on how to get my 2 yr. old son to get a hair cut? He has been getting them every month since he was 11 months old, but suddenly this month he freaked out when we went to the barber. He just refuses to let anyone cut his hair. My husband even bought a clipper set, but he wont let us near him. I think he got clipped the last time and it hurt him a little bit so he's scared now.

Any suggestions would be helpful. His hair is getting long and driving me crazy.

Do you breastfeed? We've found the only way to cut our son's hair is for me to breastfeed him while my dh cuts his hair with a little pair of scissors. We haven't tried the clippers yet.

I am a salon owner and hairstylist and my son will be three in April. Try asking the barber to use scissors only or try taking him to a salon or different atmosphere. I use the clippers as little as possible with little boys. I have found I can get the same results with my shears and a guarded razor. Call around and see if any other places do anything special to distract the little ones while getting their haircut. At my salon we have books, juice boxes and we give out small grab bags and lollipops (always a hit). This may or may not help...trust me we have had some screamers...but sometimes it's also just a personal fit issue with the barber/stylist and sometimes it's just a bad day.  I have also had mom's bring in snacks or favorite toys to help put the kids at ease and I've even let them squirt my water bottle at ME. A family friendly salon should be willing to help you out. Hope this helps and best of luck.
