21 month old with "MINE" syndrome

My son is 21 months old and everything is "mine" now. He screams "mine" and will fight you for what ever it might be. This is my 1st out of 4 to do this. Anybody else? How long will this last? It was cute at first, now its getting embarrassing. I correct him, "no, that is mommy's but mommy will share" (or what ever the case might be). Its gotten old real fast. Its not just at home.. everywhere we go church, playgroup, and stores.. you name it. Ugh...any suggestions?

I would say don't give in. My little girl is going through that right now (almost 23 months) and most of the time I don't give her any if she is doing that b/c then she knows that she will get some. She doesn't do it out of the house though. I would say just don't give in, give praise when he isn't doing it, and share with him when he doesn't ask for it. It's a phase at this age. Toddlers are learning they aren't part of Mommy and Daddy and that they have their own stuff and it's just part of the learning process. If he's asking for food he might be hungry, you could try giving him something different from what you are having.
