3 year old boy potty training

My son is 3 years old, and has been peeing in his potty, outside, or on the big potty for months now. However, I cannot get him to do the dirty business in the potty. He will go in the closet, right next to his potty and squat. He also squats like a duck and puts his hands near his behind and almost tries to pull the poop out. Any help or tips?

my son was doing the same thing for a while. He would go grab a pull-up and tell me he had to poop. I would just take him to the potty everytime and he would tell me he cant poop on the toilet. So one day i sat on the toilet and had him sit on his toilet next to me and i pretended to poop and he started going . ever since that day hes had no problems give it a try!

One thing you could try at home is to put a long shirt on him and no diaper or pants. with nothing there to cover his bottom he may go to the potty on his own (but you will want to watch him the first couple of days) just make sure he understands that if he poops or pottys on the floor he will get into trouble. Of course this wont work in public but after my son realized what he is supposed to do he has been alot better about telling me when he needs to go. Hope this helps Good Luck!
