My son turned three in may and wow the rudness that comes from his mmouth is unbelievable. I ask him to be quiet and he turns and points his finger and says You be quiet and then goes very angry.. I dont want to make a fuss in public, but what do you do???

A friend told me recently about vinegar. She would make her children drink just a bit of vinegar when they were rude. It is very good for you, people drink it for health, so you don't have to worry about side effects. I also agree with Faythe a bop or flick on the mouth. Another friend pinches lightly on the underside of the arm when in public for correction. Try on yourself or spouse first because it does not take much pressure.

A bop on the mouth and tell him firmly that you don't talk to mommy that way! If you ignore that behavior it will just get worse. If you're concerned about doing that in public....well I did it to my son in a police station and no one said a word to me about it. But you could always take him out to the car. Trying to get a 3 year old to be quiet in the first place is hard. I tell my 3 year old he needs to use his indoor voice and if he wont he gets to sit in time out until he's done throwing his fit.
