background: my 4 year old son is in nursery from 8:50am until 11:20am, i also have a 7month old daughter. leading up to the nursery is a flight of steps(only a small flight) but rather than lugging my daughter in her pushchair up the steps i wait for the other mums to collect their children and then i go to the top of the steps so my daughter is still in full in i can see the door to the nursery but standing in the doorway the teacher cant see around the corner and down the steps and the teacher calls each childs name to come out when she see's the parent.

anyways today i was furious, as usual i was waiting at the bottom of the steps and there were about 10 mums at the top of the steps and out of know where my son appeared at the top of the steps and headed towards me, no sign of the teacher. she didnt check to see if i was there!!!

on top of that my daughter was wingeing and if i had rushed up there i dont know what i would have said so i left it and went home...

basically im going to say something to the teacher tomorrow about it but have no idea how to word it without being threating, can you help please?

I think I would be honest, tell her you are angry that it shouldn't have happened and that you should feel your son is safe and being watched regardless of how many people there are going in and out she should know where all the children in her care are. Good luck

Just remember one of the other moms could of told the teacher you were out side just talk to her let her know you were concerned she may have a perfectly logical explanation if not then set her strait.

I would ask her why your son came down the stairs by himself yesterday. Maybe one of the other parents told her you were there and tell her that you are not comfortable with that and you would prefer that she sees you before letting him out.

I would definitely say something along the lines of:
I noticed there were a lot of people on the stairs yesterday, did you notice my son walking down by HIMSELF???" Yeah, I'm out spoken. I'd be a bit upset too. Thankfully nothing did happen.
