I live in VT and am having problems with having a second child. Does anyone have any experience with adoption or know of any good agencies to use? This biggest problem is financial. Any thoughts or suggestions?

How wonderful that you want to give a child a forever home!

We just finished an adoption a year ago and I could not ask for more. My biggest suggestion: Find an adoption attorny and adopt from fostr care.

Here in Mi foster care means you get your money back. With the att. it means you don't have any hidden fees. I don't know anything about adoption in Vt but start looking in your own backyard. That is the best thing you can do.

try looking at:

www.nwae.org

www.mare.org

I think it's .org if not it's .com

look up foster care for Vt.

If you have the means try foster to adopt. It places a child quicker and you the extra bonding time.

If you have any other general questions or need support please feel free to contact me.

Good luck,michelle

The two communities on Circle of Moms I would recommend are:

Adoption Supporter

Mothers of Adopted Kids

Also there is a yahoogroup called 2adopt.  You can also ask questions and be placed on a list of wating adoptive parents.   http://groups.yahoo.com/group/2adopt

Thank you for your reply. I looked at some of the other adoption sites on here but did not see info as where to start. I would like to do a private adoption if possible, partially due to money. But I do not know how to find these things out. I guess I will have to do more research.

There is a great adoption group on here you could maybe get someone local to you to give you better advice.   I adopted from a local agency and yes it can get pricey, but you can also look into a state foster-adopt program which will probably end up being the least expensive... or if you know of someone you can also get an attorney to help with a private adoption.  There are so many things to consider, I would probably start searching locally first.

Best wishes!  It is truly a blessing.
