Advice for getting a child to sleep through the night.

I have a 19 month old son who still does not sleep through the night. We are expecting our second child in July and would really like to get him sleeping through the night before our daughter is born. He wakes up 3 to 4 times a night. We have not figured out exactly why he gets up. We used to think it was to nurse, but since he no longer nurses that is not a factor. He is a very strong willed child. What have you done to help a child sleep through the night? Any advice would be appreciated! We are ready for some sleep! :)

I have a 3 year old that is still up once a night. ugh! My best advice is to wear out your child as much as possible. You might also make sure a nap isn't taken too late in the day. Also, don't forget that the more sleep deprived a child is the worse they sleep. Oh and one thing that has kind of helped my daughter is to make her room completely dark. Hope this helps. Good Luck!
