Any ideas on potty training a 3.5 year old boy? He will not poop in the pot. We have rewarded him, scolded him. We are out of ideas. HELP!

Well - we were there a few short months ago. He would pee every time, but no poop. Finally we got him to try, but he was never successful. Then, we were leaving to go on vacation, and he had tried 3 or 4 times, but would just sit on the potty for 5 sec. at most and get discouraged. My husband and I just told him that we were leaving in the car for a long trip, and we could not go to the mountains to see his granny until he pooped in the potty. Well, he sat and read books for about 15 minutes, and believe it or not - he pooped. He was SUPER excited. We ended up with a small accident later that day (I think he was so excited that he didn't finish). After that, he was trained. He has had maybe 3 accidents since Thanksgiving. Some days I have to remind him. It is really funny - Now it is like he "poops on command." He'll deny having to go, so I say, Just go try to make mama happy - and he ALWAYS poops...But I will say - GOOD LUCK!

Well I have a 2 year old that I have not started to train yet but I will share my mothers story about training me....

I was well over 3 and would not potty train or even look at the potty. Out of pure desperation she grabed a huge stack of books and me and sat in the Bathroom with me for about 8 hours reading books to me and putting me on the potty after each one. By the end of the day I was trained!

I personally thought this was very funny! I probably won't in another 6 months though.
