my 2 1/2 year old girl wants to start using the toilet but is scared of it, so got a potty and she is too scared to sit on that too! we have stopped putting her in nappies except for bed, when she needs to wee she will tell me and run to the bathroom but doesnt want to do it and will refuse to go, once we leave the bathroom she will do it in her pants. I AM GETTING REALLY FRUSTRATED!!

My answer is probably not bery helpful matey as I have boys - but my experience with Zane was pretty much the same at 3years old though- we ended up so tired & angry & frustrated so...what helped me was admiting defeat & putting Zane back in nappies & letting him decide when he was ready, at 3 & a half all of a sudden he decided he was & he would pull his pants down & go when he wanted to, easy - no more problems of tears!

Hi

My daughter 2 1/2 went through the same thing. I just gave her a break for awhile. My husband and I have been trying with her but we didn't have much luck ourselves. The best thing we did was let her watch her friend Hannah who is 4 monthes younger do it. Emma still wasn't ready but it got her mind thinking about it. I keep her potty very clean and have encouraged her to put her stuffed animal "friends" on the potty and wipe their bum and flush etc to help her get more comfortable. I also took the potty out of bathroom so as not to scare her with her. Now she's in preschool and within 3 days of seeing the other kids, she's peeing in the potty. On the 4th day, she pooped, but now is regressing again. She's only been in preschool for 2 weeks now though, so I'm not pushing her on it. I like to do stuff in my own time (it's my own worst characteristic) and unfortunately, Emma is like that too.

Cherie, have you seen those steps that have a toilet seat attatched to them? they are fantastic. Worked with my kids. Worth a go. I would just by pass the pottie all together. Also maybe she just isnt ready yet.
