Have you visited the site They have some great recipe ideas and also some helpful information about feeding your toddler. It gave me great relief to find out how little a 1 year old really needs to eat. Also, my doctor told me to look at their eating habits for an entire week instead of each day to be sure they are getting all they need. My daughter is 16 months and eats everything better when I give her something to use as a dipping sauce. I hope these suggestions help.

Hummus! If my son (16 months) ruled the world, he'd eat nothing but hummus and bagels.

I am totally in the same boat you are! I have a 6 year old who refuses to eat just about anything...and so when she wanted cereal or something I would give it to her to make her have something in her tummy......Although I really thought we were in a bad spot with her I talked to our pediatrician about it and she said-"she's not going to starve herself:) Tell her what she can and can't eat, give her choices that are healthy and if she's hungry enough she'll eat it!"

And to my excitement its been working. Although she claims to hate apples, oranges, carrotts etc once they are her only choices and Im not giving in on other "junky" foods she eventually chooses one of her 3 meal choices of the day. I am a big push over and hate having to fight with her about food of all things, but sticking to my guns and giving her options has made her feel in control and given me a lot less headaches!! Although I hate to make a special meal for her everyday, so every other day she gets to pick what is for supper. The other days she has to eat what I make or she can have a peanut butter sandwich(shich I know she likes) She has actually gotten sick of them and now even chooses what I make a few days of the week. I think we have found our solution! The other great advice I have gotten is that kids do eventually grow out of alot of their picky habits if they are continually introduced to new foods-it takes 7 tries before your body adjusts to the flavor of a new food, so at least make your child take one bite of everything you make each day and eventually your one year old might like a new food or two.

Well I have rambled on quite a while so I wish you much luck and remember your not alone!!!!

My son likes simple foods like chicken nuggets, green beans, and fruit. I usually give them to him one at a time b/c when he goes onto the next thing, he usually won't go back to what he was eating before! There's research that says kidds don't get tired of eating the same thing over and over again. So, if your child is eating a fairly balanced meal, I wouldn't worry too much right now on variety. Good luck!
