My son Andrew is 22 months old. I have never really had a problem out of him when it came to sleeping in his crib and he was always a good baby. About 3 months ago Andrew started sleeping in the bed with us and after a week or two of tossing and turning I went out and bought Andrew a big boy bed. Well he still refuses to sleep in his bed or his bedroom. I have two older girls and I have never run across this problem. What do I do about getting him to sleep in his own bed and eventually his own room!

You should let him decorate the room with you and put nitelites in there where he can see them and see if that helps.

We bought a trundle bed for my son. My husband had a sleepover in his room. My son slept on the trundle and my husband on the upper bed. Eventually my son wanted the upper bed so we let him sleep their and my husband moved back to our room it was great. He loves his bed. Hope this helps and you get him sleeping in his own room and bed.

My son never slept in our bed so I can't help you with that one but when we moved him into his own room I got him to help me decorate and move all his toys in there. We dressed the bed together and tucked his toys in to "nap" in his big boy bed. We started doing day naps in his big boy bed, and I sat on the floor unitl he fell asleep. Then whilst he was out with his dad, on the day we were going to move him permanently into the new room, I moved his cot mattress so it was up on one end and the slats on the base were showing. He came home and saw that it was "Broken". When night time came he went into his room and saw that the cot was "broken" and had no choice but to go to his big bed. For 3 days I sat on his floor. Then we put a gate up at his door. It took a furthre 3 days for him to settle into staying in his bed but he did it and now loves his room.

Good luck - its not easy.

Thank you! I think I am going to try and move his toddler bed in to my room and see how he does with that.

It might have been a huge step for him to go from your bed to another room... my son slept in his crib, then started sleeping w/us for a while, what i did was put his crib in our room at first it was tough but he got somewhat used to it again, and since we have a lifetime crib.. i turned it into a toddler bed and a few days later put it in his own room, along with new night lights and curious george stickers on the walls (he loves curious george) which he helped me put up. Now he always sleeps in his bed, he is excited to show me his stickers when I put him to sleep. I hope this helps. It might also help to lay with him until he falls asleep instead of letting him come into your bed when he wakes up at night lay w/him in his.
