My son is 19 months & my husband & I were talking about potty training our son. But we were wondering how to go about it? What were some of the things people try..? And at what age is it ok to try.?

Your child will probably let you know themself. My eldest son started to want his nappy off when it was wet or dirty and would go out of the room to poo. I gave him his potty and just let him play with it, sitting on it etc so he wouldn't be afraid of it. Later when he was happy to sit on it with out a nappy we would sing songs etc so he would relax. The whole process took us about one week.

I would then keep a nappy off him at home but still put one on for outings etc. When he was about 28 months I started taking him out without a nappy on, but only to places where I knew where the toilets were and now at 30 months we go everywhere without a nappy. He no longer wear a nappy to bed but we have a rubber sheet under his, just in case. We have had one wet bed in two weeks, (upto now).

I was quite nervous about potty training but it turned out to be easy but I know this isn't the case for every child, just let them guide you. They will know what they want to do and when.
