Is it possible for a 2 1/2 year old to be experiencing a bad attitude or is this just his brain trying to catch up with his emotions? I have almost had it and need some answers........By the way it is a boy.

I have a girl and I'm experiencing the same thing. She's not as bad as some other kids I have seen, but she definately knows how to push my buttons. She let's out high pitched squeels when she doesn't get what she wants and she says "yes" when she means no, then gets mad because I gave her what she really didn't want in the first place! It's exausting, but I feel it's partially my fault for not being consistent enough with dicipline. She also picks a lot up from her cousin whom she likes to mimic! It can be a combination of different things that come from just being 2!! I've learned that not giving in to her demands is starting to work though. I ignore her tantrum and tell her, "when you are done crying and acting like a baby, I'll talk to you." She squeels for a few minutes which seem like an eternity to me, and then she gets over it! Good luck and be strong!

LOL...I actually got online specifically to look up toddler hitting, tantrums and defiance today, and joined this toddler network (I'm on single-moms / work-from-home-moms / babies born Dec 2007 networks already) to see what other moms are saying. Ahhhh! I thought I was going to lose it this morning...and I'm a pretty cool person normally. =) My little guy is only 18 months old and seems to be very "advanced", in that he been in his Terrible Two's for a few months now already. Don't know if you're defining "bad attitude" by hitting, defiance, doing something he knows is a "no-no" while looking at you with a smile on his face, etc...but that's what I'm going through. Ha! I've gotten some great tips for time-outs just while clicking around here. Stay strong and consistent - I'll do the same. We'll get through it...he hee.
