big boy bed

Any suggestions on transitioning a 2 yr old to a big bed? My son slept in it the first night great: never got up once. After that, he would cry & scream and wanted nothing to do with it. We put him back in his crib but would like to make the transition. Any ideas on how best to do it? And when we try, should we take down the crib?

Hi Laura,

I agree... Take the crib away... Pick out a "big boy" sheet set or some other special thing for his room. Take the crib down and put it away. NO looking back! Michael cried and wanted to sleep with us.. ( don't fall into that trap) he cried the first few nights and we had to keep putting him back inhis bed but he got the message in a couple of nights.. It was hard on me... but so glad we did it! Good luck!

what I did for both of my kids was let them pick out their sheets.. and have something like a teddy or toy that they love and have it sleep with them.. Id also recomend taking down the crib, that way he will know there is no choice but to sleep in the big boy bed..the day we put up the big bed was the day the crib went away in our house.. my kids both were great from day one.. good luck follow you insticts.. he will learn to love the big boy bed
