My almost one year old was having trouble pooping. I gave him juice to help him out. After a day he was back to useing regular bm. But within todays hrs he has been pushing out mucus looking discharge. Example: (Like a mucus plug, when pregnant). He has gotten a really bad rash b/c of it and he breaks out more w/desitin & butt past. (Knowing from past rashes). I'm trying to figure out what could cause this discharge. Infection somewhere???

When a child is constipated the body goes into over drive to try and get rid of the waste. This mucus is made by the body to help push out the waste and should clear up on his own. However this is serious constipation if the body is doing this take him to the doctors just to get something stronger for a while to help his bowels get back to normal. Poor little mite he must be miserable!

i agree the Calmoseptine is AWESOME stuff and better than anything you can get on the shelf at walmart. Any rash my little boy gets it takes it right away. I would take him to doctor though.

If he's had a cough or a cold he could be swallowing the mucus and it's comming out the other end, quite often they can get a nappy rash at this time becuse of this too as they are slightly dehydrated and the wee is stronger, but definatley take him to the doc if it continues other things need to be ruled out.

Also Calmoseptine, its behind the pharmacy counter, and about 8 bucks, but its is hospital grade diaper rash cream and it will help serious rashes fast. I wold defiantly see the dr. about the discharge though safety first.
