My son who is 12 months and I'm having the hardest time weaning him off the bottle and on the sippy. He won't take it AT all and when he does he plays with it. Any Suggestions?

Hi, I has same problem. I managed to get my daughter to drink from Straw cup instead. She couldn't understand that to drink from a sipper she needed to lift the cup up to get anything out. With the Straw cup she can hold with ease and drink lots and be VERY happy about it. I'll work on the cup thing later. Good luck. Julie

My daughter didn't like sippy's either. I found that she preferred sippy cups with a softer spout alot better than the hard spouts because it was still similar to a bottle. I used the NUK brand training sippys that are for 6 month olds for both my daughters to get them used to a sippy and it worked both times and even for my neice. It will be easier for them to adapt to something similar to a bottle and work their way up to sippy's for their recommended age. If you want to teach your baby to drink from a straw... I found it easier to use a juice box or pouch that I could squeeze to help them get the idea of sucking through a straw. Hope this helps. I'm going to try it for my third baby too that is due July 9 :)

I am not sure what a sippy is but my son started drinking out of a straw when he was about 10 months old. He took to it straight away.

Have you thought about trying a straw? My little boy was never fond of sippies, but he would drink out of a straw. It could be something with how much work there is in getting anything out of certain brands of sippy cups.
