Ok so I have a 1 year old she'll be two in January and I want her to get onto the cups now she will do so but at night in order to go to bed at night she uses the bottle as a comfort so her grandma bought her a cup with a nipple something like a bottle but to me its still a bottle how do I get her off of having anything in her mouth when trying to go to bed

its a baby step to use that cup and a good one...perhaps think about what is in it next...water would be experience is that if you start with cups during the day it helps make the transition go better and do it slowly ...perhaps pick out a cup or two with her to make it more fun for it a bedtime cup...and i promise being on a bottle alittle while longer isn't a bad thing if it is water...

We had the same problem my oldest JUST got off the bottle at night. She was 2 we told her that the aligators took her bottle at night and it was gone. She does not like the way aligators look she says they look yucky.....We Live in Louisiana what can i say.........She has asked for it for about the first week but after that she is ok with not having it. It is just a comfort thing.

The sooner you get her off of the cup at bedtime, the better. My son is two and still uses a cup to go to sleep. He is extremely attached to it now. I am in the process of taking it away. Lots of crying! So I would recommend taking it away completely, not little by little. (Like a bandaid, fast and quick.) I think she will soon forget about it.
Good Luck!

it can be quite difficult and not something i've tried before about 14 months - persiverience is probably your best way. my first son didn't really want his milk from a cup so he got some cereal before bed time to make sure he wouldn't get hungry through the night- eventually he started to drink it with this like he would juice at meal times. hpe this gives some help good luck.
