Does anybody have any suggestions on how to potty train a 3 yr old boy? I have been trying for months.

i would say let him see his dad go to the toilet to show him how it is done and seeing other children his own age doing it. also i find some sort of sticker chart always helps. i tried all these things with my daughter and she has been in knickers for about 1year now

My son was over 3.5 before he wanted to use the potty. We gave him a coin every time he sat on the potty. One day he wanted big boy underwear and sit on the potty. He still prefers to sit on the potty and not stand. He is now 4 and just last week he told me he stood to go. He was very proud of himself. He will let you know. It helped my son to know he couldn't go to preschool until he could go by himself. Don't worry it will happen.

I really don't have any ideas that work. We tried the route thing where you just put him on the toilet every so many hours...buying the underwear....bribing...punishing...nothing worked. Then one day I went to the store, defeated, and bought a giant box of diapers. The very next day as we were getting dressed in the morning, my son told me that he wanted to wear underwear that day. And we have been in underwear since...he still has an occassional accident, but it's really not that bad at all...

I was having the same problems. Then one day he walked in on my HB going to the bathroom and he asked what he was doing. He told him he was going potty like a big boy and that is what he needed to do. That is all it took. My other boy was big into money so we paid him a quarter for a while when he went potty. I tried the cherrios in the toilet as I had heard other moms. Another one is giving treats - I did smarties for my son too.
