If so, did they get sick afterwards? because i heard that a lot of people actually got swine flu after getting the vaccine. or did they get the symptoms of flu/swine?

There are 2 types of the H1N1 vaccine. 1 is a dead virus which is injected into the arm or leg thru a needleand the other is actually a live virus which is inhaled thru the nose. Age limit is 6mo thru elderly, depending on health status. 6 mo thru 24 yrs old is the recommended age of getting it, but anyone wanting it should certainly ask their doctor.

I just read that the age for H1N1 shots is 6 months thru 24 years of age. If I were you, I wouldn't get him vaccinated yet!

our pediatrician said the baby needs to be at least 6 months old to get the vaccine. I did get it last week. and my son will get it, too (he is almost 3). you don't get sick from the vaccination but you can get flu-like symptoms. it is not a life virus they are giving you. that's all I know so far. so...if you are breastfeeding the baby will be protected at least in parts through you/the breast milk if you did get vaccinated.

Only the vaccine in the US is completely dead.  The vaccine in Canada does contain partial live strains.

I see. Did not know about that. I did not pay attention to where the lady who asked about H1N1 vaccination is from and automatically assumed she must be from the United States. Sorry for any confusion I might have caused.

they dont give it to children under six months because they still have so many of moms antibodies in there systems,as my son is just 6 months ,but was born 13 weeks early and the neonatologist has said it would be a lot worse if he gets h1n1 without having the vaccine ..but keep in mind it takes 10 days for the vaccine to take effect..so in theory you can get the shot and still catch it in those 10 days and still have to go on anti virals (tamiflu)
