Set a time you want him in bed by. Start the bedtime routine a good hour before bed. Keep him away from the television, anything electronic, that keeps the brain from settling down. Every kid is different, Try a couple things that you may think will work. Try it out for a week, if it doesn't work, try another. For my son, we give him a bedtime snack, like a sugar-free jello, a couple crackers to fill his tummy, some water, then give him a bath with Johnson and Johnson Bedtime bath. IT contains lavender which is a calming herb. Then we read a book or two. Don't do anything to make him get all excited or riled up. Just be kind of boring for an hour. After the book, we pop a nook in his mouth, give him his blanket and his favorite stuffed animal and I'll throw his blanket over my shoulder so he lays his head down for a few minutes. This typically calms him down and lay him down and leave the room.
