Does you child know his/her colors at the age of 20 months?

Colors, no, but he doesn't really have an interest there.
Animals... man he can name/make the sign for pretty much every common animal going as well as make the sounds for all of them.
In my experience children can learn colors that early of an age, but most closer to being two or older.
Some kids pick up a color or two and gleefully name it.

Really it depends on your child and their interests :)

My son knew some of them. He has a speech delay and wasn't really talking at that time, he had trouble articulating the names of the colours (at 20 months there was "blue" and "low", which is yellow) but he was able to match the correct lids to his play-dough jars.

I think it depends on the child. Some children pick up alot easier with colors and shapes. My daughter picked it up very quickly, but my son was a little later.

My daughter is 21 months and she knows blue and green and usually gets yellow right. She can identify shapes (circle, square, triangle, heart), but won't say the names. She can do 1-2-3 and A-B-C, but that's all.

My daughter is 19 months and knows red, green, blue, pink, blue, yellow and purple. She's very curious and well...I don't really know how to explain her except that she's a total sponge. She's been counting for some time now and doing ABCs as well. When I do ABCs with her I will stop in various places and she can pick up with the next letter. She also can name most shapes, it's crazy. This is not the norm for a child her age so please don't compare or get discouraged. Every child is different and learns at his or her own pace. Lily reached all of her milestones early.

I think it depends on the child. My daughter did except she always called blue yellow. But yellow was also yellow unless they were right beside each other then she would call blue blue. But she could also count to five at 20 months and is now almost 2 and can count to ten by herself and name all of the shapes as well so I think she is a bit ahead of where she needs to be.

My son picked up blue at about 23 months, but called all colors blue. He has since added pink, then yellow and is now 25 months.

When he calls something wrong (ie pink, blue) I ask him "are you sure?" and he usually picks pink the next time;).

Colors are tough.
