I'm going to assume that is a pacifier? My son gave his up on his own at about 9 months, because he realized I was using it to get him to go to sleep. Maybe try this, it worked for a friend: Make an event of saying good bye to it. First round up all the extra ones except the one that your child is using and throw them away while he isn't looking. Then tell him that he is a big boy and that it is time for him to say goodbye to "it" (if he has a name for it use it). Then take him to the trash and tell him what a big, wonderful boy he is and how big boys don't need dummies. Then try and get him to toss it in the garbage (maybe save an extra one to throw in at the same time?). Then give him something new to kind of replace it with, like a Popsicle or a special cup. Clap and cheer for him when he throws it away and give him lots of praise. Hope that helps
