I need some ideas, what do I feed my 1 year old.
She wants to feed her self all the time and I dont think that she is getting enough food into her.
I have tried finger foods for lunch and dinner but she wont let me feed her off a spoon.
She is tiny in the first place and I am scared that she is going to loose even more weight that the cant afford to.
She is down to 2 bottles of milk a day, one in the morning and another before bed., but I know that, that is not enough.

My son was the same way. I would put Cheerios on his tray. When he went to put it in his mouth I would put a spoonful of food with it. When he learned that trick I made all his food in a way that he could eat himself.
By one he was eating food in little chunks. I would cut small enough so if he swallowed without chewing he wouldn't choke. I have always let him do those type of things when he wants as it was easier then fighting.
He is now two and I have never had a problem with eating.

Don't worry so much. My little girl is miss independent. When she was 1 she wouldn't let me fed her, whether from a spoon or finger food. I gave up trying as i figured she wanted to be like her older brother.
Breakfast i gave her dreid cereal, toast with butter on it, fruit, yogurt (yes i let her use her fingers if she thats what she wanted to do), Lunch - toast, meat slices, cheese, crisps, fruits, veg, anything - even messy food spageitti, ravioli, with lots of baby wipes at hand. Dinner - were proper dinners - and again if it was messy i let her do it herself.
I did take her top off just so they wouldn't get ruined.
If she wants to feed herself, let her. Kids are ment to be messy and food textures are are knightmare but can also be fun.
Encourage her with whatever is on her plate, if you have the same meal, then enjoy dinner with her, show her that you use a fork and spoon, and how much fun it is to chase the food around the bowl to get in on and then into the mouth.
My little girl ate rice, potatoe, chicken in sauces, fish, anything with her finger. I hated seeing her so messy but she ate her dinner. She now eats most things on front of her, i can't think of anything she doesn't like.
If she didn't eat it all, then a little while later i'd give her a small healthy snack.
The milk - i always gave plenty of milk, and still do. Milk is an important part of the diet. it helps build strong bones. When you say she has 2 bottle of milk, is this formula? If so fine, but still give her more cows milk throughout the day. Its really good for them.
I hope this is helpful. Just give her anything, no matter how messy.

I'm glad that Madi and I are not the only ones going through this. She has loads of drinks during the day. cows milk with food and water or juice between or with snacks. She had a better day today. almost all of her meals and a snack this afternoon. Another tooth has come in so i think that, that might have been a factor. thanks everyone for the comments its been a great help.

Let her play with a spoon while you feed her. Maybe try taking turns, you feed her a spoonful then she tries. It can be a little frustrating and messy, but as Michelle said she has to learn. Even though she's tiny she will eat when she's hungry and she will let you know. Also talk to your doctor, if she/he isn't worried about her weight then you shouldn't be either. Try not to worry and have fun.
