hi i have got a 20month old daughter and i am having problems with her trying to get her to eat our food and get her from baby food the only thing she will eat of our food is toast, fries, yougarts and chocolate if she had her way she would eat yougarts all day, everyday.

With the drink i can only get her to drink out of bottles i cant get her to drink out of anything different what does any1 suggest i should do for the both things

hi Carrie-anne,

Easy trick.. straw cups are great.. better for speech and motor develpment.

Get a juice box and cut the straw a tiny bit to make a little shorter.. put up to her mouth and squeeze the box a little bit until she starts to get the idea. it took my 1 year old son about a week of attempts and it tok my 9 mo. old daughter about 2 days.. we went to the store and picked out some fun cups (target has the best selection) we made a big deal about it and we never looked back.. jenn

Have you tried teaching her how to use a straw.. i can tell you the quick easy way I taught both my kids.. straw cups are the best.. My 2 1/2 year old still likes baby food from time to time.. the consistancy is preferred. He is just starting to branch off and is starting to eat better.. he is getting to an age where he wants what I have.. so you will get there I promise.. another thing is. you may want to just get her checked by an OT for sensory type problems.. my son did have a little of that.. he had problems with textured foods unless the currency was high like french fries.. never hurts to get it checked.. it appears tons of kids have this issue.. and some kids are that way.. I give Evan baby food veggies because at least I know he is eating something healthy...he is starting to eat peas - he likes to pick up.. hope this helps.. let me know if you want my straw tip? jenn
