My daughter is almost 2 and isn't a fan of eating meat except for chicken nuggets that we get at the store. She eats her fruit like none other and some veggies, just depending on her mood. How can I get her to eat more meat? I've tried to disguise it in a sauce or mixed in with her fruit and i'd have her try a bite but always picks the meat out. Is your child the same way? What helps?

I have the same issue but somewhat the opposite the only meat he will eat is the leftover taco meat I make- He hate chicken even nuggets-I do the V8 fushion thing as well- he doesn't lkie veggies either (just like daddy)-I blend up veggies and mix it in just about everything and neither knows they are there-I do the same thing with chicken-cook-blend and mix it into something he will eat like mash potatoes-I am told he will try food when he is ready and not to force him but to keep putting it on his plate-the ped. said not to make meal time stressful but a special time so this when-TV goes off- cells are in the other room and we talk about our day. I have to keep waiting for the pickyness to end-best of luck to you-recommend the cookbook Deceptively Delicious-it works wonders in my family.

For a while my son was eating his meat well now he won't touch it. The only meat he eats well for me is cold cut honey turkey. I try to give him other things for protein. Peanut butter on toast (if your daughter can have it yet) and eggs . I also give him carnation instant breakfast 1/2 a pack with his milk in the the morning and the other 1/2 with his milk in the evening, it has vitamins and protein and it makes me feel better. The V8 fusion juice Lauren suggested is also awesome. My little guy loves the strawberry banana kind it's got fruit and veggies in it!

My daughter is 3 now and is the exact way. I thought for sure she was vegetarian with a definite sweet tooth. But one day she chose to try my steak at the dinner table and she ended up eating one herself. My pediatrician reassures me that when she is ready and wants to eat meats she will. So far she LOVES bacon, pepperoni, steak and chicken nuggets with the occassional corn dog. Since she loves veggies and fruits so much I don't worry about her protien intake because I make sure she gets it elsewhere. In my house I make 'ice cream shakes' which my 16 and 14 year old have loved since they were little. It consists of a block of tofu (good source of protein) 1/2c orange juice (or any juice you have), 1/2c milk, handful of frozen strawberries, 2 bananas and 1T vanilla (it helps cover any tofu texture and after taste issues) and blend. If the mixture gets too thick just add more juice or milk to get it to the consistency of your liking.
To have the kids fight over such a good-for-you drink is an AWESOME thing! Good luck with your little one! :)

this is going to sound crazy but my mom used to tell me that every type of meat was chicken and I would eat it. lol but my son is going through the same thing. one moment he doesn't like it, the next he does. It so hard! I honestly don't give my son a choice. If he doesn't want what im giving him, then i assume he's really not that hungry. i keep trying every 15 min or so until he eats it. Im just afraid of raising a greedy child. It works for me.

If its protein you're worried about, there's lots of different ways your daughter can get it. She's just about old enough for peanut butter, if she hasn't already tried it. Cottage cheese and wheat germ also have a lot of protein. If she loves fruit so much, why not try making her a smoothie with fat-free yogurt, wheat germ, fruit, and the V8 fusion juice? Then she's getting fruit, veggies, and protein and she won't even know it! I wouldn't be too concerned with forcing her to expand her palate just yet. 2 year olds know what they want, its so hard to make them do anything contrary to that as I'm sure you're discovering or will start to soon!

I used to take care of my sisters daughter 27months now. She would not eat meat at all except for chicken nuggets sometimes. Nothing else. What I would do was to keep giving her the meat so she knows it's there because she needs to eat it but she'd push it away or pick out the meat. Even when I made Spaghetti I always add ground beef to the sauce and she would pick out and only eat the noodle. She still is the same way.... she does eat some meats but not a lot at all.... she's a chosen vegetarian at 2 LOL. good luck
