Hello all, Iv got my 2 and half year old still in cot I didnt see why to rush im not a mummy fan of competing with my girl. Though now i wondered if any of u tried your toddler on a adult mattress (without the base)? so I thought less far to hit the ground or what if a really good travel beds if there is any ??

Im not keen on toddler/starter beds because its going to cost loads even trying to get it cheaply or second hand because im going to have to buy 2 of everything (1 for the grandparents)and we dont have the money for it, Im just about scraping through as it is neverminding trying to buy 2 toddler beds all the stuff then go onto a adult size bed in a few years time.

My son is 2yo 2 months, he's been on adult mattress since 1 yo. When he's a baby he slept with us. MY transition method is, let him sleep with us and moved him to his new bed every night. One day he walked to his new bed on his own and asked to be put to sleep there. That's how i do it. Takes few weeks.

oh, hey, I just thought of something--air mattresses are another possibility. I think they are considerably less expensive than adult mattresses and still close to the floor and come in sizes starting from twin I believe all the way up to king!

Adult mattresses are pretty pricey by themselves. Have you thought about buying two toddler mattresses instead? Same concept as yours, but less pricey and while you will eventually have to put her onto something bigger, depending on how fast your toddler grows she might be able to stay on it for a while.
I have 2 girls, both are in toddler beds. The older of the two is 5 1/2 and she still is able to use hers. The other one is 20 months.
Since your daughter is 2 right now she might be able to use the toddler mattress for 4-6 years. Just a thought.
