Hair cut

[deleted account] ( 8 moms have responded )

I may not be ready yet, but my son needs his first hair cut. Any advise about when to do this? Before nap, after meal, etc.?? I have a voucher for Beaners' so we'll be going there. The teenage front receptionist had zero information for me and everyone else was super busy. Thank you for sharing your experiences!

my son enjoyed his first hair cut with his dad.ask your hubby to get his haircut too so it won't be traumatic for your little would be a great bonding time for your boys!

Sucker, check! It will be his first one but he's had jello and chocolate..
My son is 17 months old. It's just the 2 of us so we spend a lot of face time together. If I could get him to not want to interact and look ahead for anything more than a few minutes, I would try to do it myself. This first hair cut will be a freebie!

how old? and why dont you want to do it? I do my sons and I do it in his highchair. I put on his fav video, and give him some munchies, and start to snip away. I can even use the clippers around his ears. i haven't taken him to a professional place, but he's only 2. maybe when he's older we'll take him someplace. IDK. I do ok, myself. Save me $$$$ too!!

Make sure you have a sucker with you!!! Seriously, even if you don't allow your kids to have much candy, take a sucker (if you don't allow sugar, they do sell sugar-free ones at most drug stores).

Thank you Jennie!

Seems to be the consensus. After nap time for sure. Now to find a day to do it!

I would do it after nap time, and if you can after he eats. Then he won't be cranky.

Thank you Amber! Beaners is a strictly little people hair cut place. The kids sit on fun animals if they want/can! My thoughts were right after his after nap snack--not tired and not hungry!! This can lead to an energy renewal though. Since this place is quite close to home, I may try bringing him over just to sit for a while and take in the atmosphere before we actually go for the hair cut. If he was a puppy I'd do it myself! (I groom dogs..)

My son just got his first hair cut in November. I would recommend after nap so he's not cranky and make sure he's not hungry. I've never been to Beaners so I don't know what it's like, but if it's kid friendly that will make it a lot easier. I took my son to see the lady that has cut my hair for years, so it wasn't really kid friendly. He didn't like it, but I gave him a sucker afterwards and he looked adorable! Relax mom, you'll both do fine.
