Ok... one of my worst concerns (guess it could be others) is happening. My 19 mo old seems to like to strip. It's a phase I get that. I'm fine w/ her taking off the pants, and she likes to undo the snaps on the onesie; esp since she's learned how. We'll tell her no and re-dress her, but she just does it again. Now, she pulls at the diaper & has taken it off a few times. But on top of that she digs in the diaper but mostly when there's poo. Today was the 3rd time, and Im tired of it. She's had some smeared on the front of the diaper, another time was in her crib...today she threw a tiny piece and a bit was in her hair - and of course it was on her fingers which she doesn't like them messy. Its frustrating! I do all the clean up (mind u, her dad was here when it happened and didn't try to help). She must start the digging when it's out because she doesn't sit around in a dirty diaper. I can smell when she's pooped and can look at her face. These last 3x's, didn't know til i saw how she was holding her hand. What deteriments can I use? I know she's curious, but Im not too interested in cleaning poo off cribs, fingers, etc every day. This is one phase that must end early. Any suggestions/tips? Have you been here yourself?

My daughter who is now 12 yrs old use to do that and I was going crazy every morning.
I tried everything. ppl told me she was to young for potty training and I am happy I didn't listen to them cause she was and that was her way of telling me.I started training her at 18 mths and just before her 2 birthday she was completely trained. and she hasn't wet the bed since she was 4.
I believe the sooner you start the better...for you and for them.

Trina, I have 2 year old twins that also like to strip. My daughter started doing this about 8 months ago and my son shortly after. They don't normaly play with the contents of thier diapers but they will pee all over thier bed or the floor if I don't get to them quick enough. They are potty trained but not at night so I came up with the pefect solution. I bought them a few pairs each of one piece footless pj's with zippers (they can undo snaps) and I put them on backwards, no matter how hard they tried they weren't able to reach the zippers. So now I have the piece of mind knowing that I won't come in thier room in the morning having to deal with a huge mess.

When I was a baby I played with my diapers contents on a daily basis every mornig my mom would walk into my room and poop would be everywhere. She would spend hours trying to clean everything. My grandma accused my mom of not looking after me properly so she came to help out for a while. She got up early one morning, She came in to check on me and I was still sound asleep so she went to the kitchen and made a pot of coffee. Within the 15 mins or so that she was gone I had already decorated my room for everyone to see. When she came back in she couldn't believe the mess I had made in such a short time and couldn't believe how quiet I had been. They tried duct tapping my diapers on and everything else that they could think of, but I still managed to get my hands down their to do my beautiful finger paintings lol. I wish you the best of luck.

THIS IS A CLEAR SIGN THAT SHE IS READY FOR THE POTTY. NOW THE NEXT THING IS KEEPIN THE POTTY WITHIN ARMS REACH. AS FOR STICKIN HER FINGERS IN IT...SHE DOESN'T UNDERSTAND THAT POO IS NOT TO PLAY WITH.

Maybe your daughter is getting ready to potty train as girls start a lot younger than boys. Keep her in a button under vest and trousers so that you have more chance of catching her try to remove her nappy. I would give potty training a go you have nothing to lose!

Hi Morgan...and thank you for your suggestions. But this little cookie of mine, she doesn't undo the velcro tabs of her diaper - well she does, but not all the time, rarely - she steps out the diaper like undies. Pulls it straight down! As for the pull ups, ha! That's not the word for it. She pulls 'em down! The poo thing has been 3 days... the actual stripping has been goin on awhile. She now has jeans and a couple of drawstring pants cuz... curious or phase or not I can't do the poo everywhere thing. Well thanks again. i'll try the backwards diaper. see what that does.

Have tried training pants? does she know how to take down her pants? our daughter was taking off her diaper and getting poo everywhere when we switched her to training pant the pampers brand cause they don't have the easy open sides like pullups it stopped , cause she didn't know how to get it off. Another thing to try is puttting the diaper on backwards so the tabs are at the back and harder to reach.
