Have any of you heard of someone having a diaper party for a 2nd child?

Some of my friends are saying I should have a diaper party and I've never heard of one. Not sure if it is improper with a 2nd child.... but I am laid off and it sounds interesting and helpful!

we had a door prize at the baby shower. To get a raffle ticket you either brought a pack of unopened diapers or a book for the new babies book shelf.

I had baby showers for my 2nd and 3rd children because all babies deserve to be celebrated. I didn't see anything wrong with it at all and neither did my guests, who had also been to the baby shower I had with my first so they knew what I already had and did not bring duplicate gifts. Gifts were never the point of the parties, but I didn't see anything wrong with people bringing them if they wanted and it was nice to have something new for my second daughter to wear and something blue for my first son (third child).

Diapers are expensive and you probably have a better idea now of what works for you and what doesn't., Depending on how many you had with your first child and how often you washed, they may just plain have worn out! I only had three wool covers in each size with my older kids and even replacing the velcro and relanolizing couldn't keep the larger sizes functional through three children.

I think you should do it. Your guests may not all show up with fuzzibuns or organic bamboo, but even a few more prefolds will help.

sound really fun! the baby "sprinkle" is also a cute idea...
diapers, wipes, rash cream, body wash, essentials...those are the things you need most for a second baby and would be very helpful to you. what a great way to celebrate with friends!

I like that idea, another Baby Shower seems like too much, but the diaper party is a great idea! Get a diaper cake made for it, that would be fun, and do your pigs in a blanket, like a little diaper... lots of ideas..

I would do it! Gives a reason for everyone to get together and celebrate the baby that will come soon!

there was actually another thread similar to this, and one woman mentioned that her mom thru her a "sprinkle" instead of a full shower, for her second baby. i think this is a great idea! that way you can still have a little get together with the ppl most important to you and who, let's face it, will probably buy the little babe something anyway!

When I had my second child, I still had all the big stuff so when my co-workers threw me a shower they did a diaper party and I will tell you what I did not have to buy diapers until he was 6-7 months old and did not have to buy wipes until 9 months old. Hey if they wan tot throw the party I thinkk that it is a wonderful idea!!!!

We had a diaper party for our first child.I would say go for it and have one. What we did was have people bring a pack of diapers and/or wipes any size and we supplied the food and just played games and had a good time.It was fun to have everyone together and most people are up for diaper parties!

This is our second child... and of course we won't have a baby shower, but a diaper party does sound like fun and very helpful for us givin the upcoming challenges we will face with me being unemployed.

I have never heard of a diaper party but it sounds fun. I assume that the guests bring a pack of diapers instead of a gift. I wouldn't think of it as improper since you aren't registering for gifts. It's just a fun reason to get together and celebrate your upcoming birth and guests can buy a small pack of diapers for under $10.00 or they can spend more for a large box. Congratulations on your pregnancy.
