My 15 month old has for some reason started headbutting the floor if hes told off or he cant get his own way. I wouldnt mind so much if we had carpets but the whole of downstairs is either tiled or wood. I try and put my foot in the way of his head and the floor whenever i can, and i always ignore him when hes done it because i know hes only after my attention. But how can i make him stop?

I almost forgot to add that my wonderful husband thought it would be funny to teach our son how to head butt (I guess it's a guy thing...I don't get it), which he did. He only started head butting the floor after that. But he doesn't do it much anymore.

My son does the same thing sometimes. Fortunately, we have carpet, but my in-laws don't. I agree that it's probably because they're frustrated and don't know how else to communicate. I also try to ignore it, and other temper tantrums. The more attention I give my son when he's mad, the more he screams and throws a fit. If I ignore it, it usually subsides pretty quick.

I don't know, my son does the same thing! He bangs his head against the hard floor, the cabinet, whatever, if he's frustrated or can't get what he wants. My MIL said my DH did the same thing when he was young. I assume it's because they can't communicate their wishes and are frustrated. I think it will probably go away when they start to talk more.
