My daughter is 15 months and I think its more than time to get her off the soother. She doesn't have it all the time. Its mainly for nap time and bed time. She occasionally has it around at home or if we are in the vehicle I give it to her when she gets cranky.

I would like to get her off it for good but not sure how to do this. She won't nap until she has it, it took me two hours of crying till I finally gave in. Right now I am thinking of just giving it to her strictly for naps and bed time but I would like to wein her permanently.

During vehicle rides I'm not sure how else to keep her occupied instead of just giving her the soother.

PLEASE HELP.

i am a little confused on what you are refering to, a pacifier? i slowly cut the tip of the pacifier off. we got about half way down the nipple when she no longer wanted it anymore.

Hi my daughter was addicted to hers untill she was 4 and I tried everything to get it off her so when she was about 2 1/2 I restricted it to bedtime only - she was old enough to understand it then. Then when she was about to turn 4 I thought it was getting a bit ridiculous so I told her a dummy fairy needs them to make houses and if she put it under her pillow the fairy would take it in the night and leave her a thank you present (I put a couple of coins and tiny sparkly bits and a tiny note in a little bag) It actually worked and she never looked back! (I wished I'd thought of it sooner!!)
