just curious if he has a reason for the speech delay or if he's had frequent ear infections? My daughter had an issue with pronouncing words correctly & I think it was due to the fact that she suffered from frequent ear infections & was repeating words in the way that she thought she heard them. Also could you maybe teach him some baby sign language to help with communication & frustration? This helped with my daughter who is talking much better and turns 2 next month, but she still signs also. I keep kids, & many of them picked it up within the first 2 weeks they were at my house. Just an idea.

We had an issue of our 2 year old not talking. The doctor told us to repeat what he's pointing at and have him say it too. Just keep pointing and repeating. Then if he didn't start picking it up to have his hearing checked. Thankfully he started talking more and now he won't be quiet! Good luck!

Quoting Beth:

try the tough love approach. if he won't talk and use his words, then don't respond. tell him to use his words and nothing else until he does. when he cries and wines just ignore him until he calms down, then go ask him whats wrong very calmly. if he starts to cry and wine again, walk out and ignore him again. my son tried the same thing at that age. this is the only thing that worked. it is hard to keep your cool and stay calm, but after some time it works!

Thank you beth I would try this if he did talk. But he is behind in his vocab. I have tried it but if he cant say it, well i dont know what to do. We work on different words and he can say alittle.
