We "started" at 18 months. If she was naked she would pee in the potty, but not poop. We really started a month after her second birthday and she (knock wood) seems completly trained a month later.
She had her own "thing" tho. She had to hold some toliet paper o her knee and tell me she was peeing and hen she was finished. lol. Now she won't use a kiddie seat and seems to enjoy her potty trained status.

Leah.. its not good to start the laxatives because the body get immune to them and the only way that your child will ever be able to go #2 is if he/she takes this. (i know because this is a problem that happened with my cousin) maybe you should take him/her to the doctor because something is not right if that is the ONLY way he/she can poop. but i didnt understand if you meant just in the potty or diapers also. :)

thanks for sharing everyone!!!

I have. My son is 2 years and 4 months. I took the advice of a friend with a boy 1 week older... I did not put any underwear or diapers on him at all and kept telling him he had to pee in the potty like a big boy or like daddy. I started the training at 6 months with him sitting on the potty when I went to the bathroom, then as he started pooing on the potty and getting a lot of praise, he was happy to poo. Probably around 1.5 yrs he was pooing fine but not peeing on the potty as regularly. I noticed he was going longer without a wet diaper and would just put him on the potty to pee when I thought he may need to go. Anyways now I am on the stage of no naps without diapers and that seems to be going well and he has been staying dry in his diapers at night so I may try to do it all at one tim!! Good luck to all you other moms working on the potty training!!

i did start.. my daughter turned 2 july 3 2008 and she was fully potty trained by the end of july.. yea, she began to pull her wet diapers off and i would wake up to a wet bed every night because she did this. she always said mommy im wet.. the best thing i ever bought was the simple seat the sits on the toilet .. thats what made her want to potty. i bought 3 chairs, a pink potty chair, a dora potty chair, and a dora potty cover. she used the cover the most and now she will use the big potty. If i take her with me to walmart and places like that she will use their potty as long as she isnt in the room when it flushes lol. And her/him going when mommy/daddy goes is the best techinique i have discovered.. now if u ask her if she needs to go (she will tell you but i ask just in case lol) she says no but i say ok im going to peepee in the potty then and thats when she says me too... she is very independent and her daycare says she is advanced. they already have her in the three year old class.. i guess its because she is half filipino and they are EXTREMELY smart. ha

My daughter is 19 months, and we set the potty out in the bathroom, and have put her on it every now and then when she looks like she is going to go poop. It is so obvious when she is going to go. Otherwise, she just sits on it when momma goes to the bathroom, and we talk about it sometimes during the day. So far, I'm not in a huge hurry to get potty trained. That might change if she's not potty trained when the second one comes around, though!

Well my almost two year old doesnt show interest in pottying besides in his diaper. he really cant talk because for the longest time he kept failing his hearing test. and yet the doctors wouldnt do anything on that.

My 2 yr old is showing some interests but not enough to start potty training. He will be three in March. So i am hoping soon cuz the diapers are killing, lol

hey, we have startd potty training my 16 month old daughter. She goes a few hours a day with no nappy and we just try her on the potty ever now and again. I find giving them a container of water helps them to wee and then they begin to realise that it is ok to wee on the potty. I make it a game. It seems to work and it worked for my now 9 years old son and my 11 yeas old step-daughter.

www.babysigns.com has the potty training system, and www.signbabies.com is another great resource for signing with your baby, too! If your son is already signing, you'll love the Potty Train video! (But you won't be able to get the song out of you head! :) )

That is awesome, my son knows a couple baby signs. Did you get a book on this or did you find it somewhere online?

We just started with our 2 year old. I wish we had started sooner! I think it would have been easier before he got his independent streak and super-mobility. We're using the Potty Train system from Baby Signs. So far so good! We've signed with our little guy for quite a while, so it has really made a lot of sense to him. Highly recommend both signing and the Potty Train system!

Hey! Well my son is 19 months and we bought a potty for him so we could start talking about it. Not sure when we should really start potty training him. Apparently there are some "signs" that they show they are ready??? Have you started?
