Hello Friends,

My daughter will be 14 months old in couple of days. She has just started getting her molars (around 6 teeth at the same time). In addition to that she has got a cold. It is the 4th time this year that she has caught a cold (I live in Dubai and the weather keeps changing and right now it is very hot). I do not feel comfortable giving her medicines so often, hence if any of you have some home made remedies to cure cold please share them with me. It would really help. Is it normal to catch a cold during teething or is it just the weather (we live in an AC environment). She is coughing, sneezing and has a running nose. Please help!!!

Thanks in advance

Try to find some homeopathic products - there are teething and cold remedies available but remember nothing will cure a cold - you just have to put up with it and try to alleviate the symptoms. You could also try Vicks - menthol rub for their neck, chest, back etc. I wouldn't be surprised if the air conditioning was causing some problems -whenever we use air conditioning in the car or plane, we always end up with a cold from the colder temps. Little ones catch so many colds, as their immune system has not been exposed to as many germs as us. I've read kids catch on average 1 cold per month, while adults only get about 4 per year.

I have heard that teething can cause these symptoms and that it in not a cold. Could also maybe be allergies. I know that when the weather changes a lot especially going really hot it can make the weeds come out faster. Lots of fluids and maybe trying to have her sleep on a pillow or raise the head of her crib/bed to help with drainage during the night.

Oh - try anything with antioxidants - and if you have pure 100% aloe juice that helps support the immune system. Vitamin C helps support the immune system too.

Hello Manushka,

Im almost positive we are not established in that area as of yet (the closest is Hong Kong) -- I know we are expanding more and more each year... I will check into this and see - otherwise, I know they wont' send anything anywhere where it is not 'OKed' yet.

Im sorry! I wish I could do more! You may still check out my webportal regardless, maybe there are other things that could help (we have over 3000 partner stores - that may be able to service you in your area) www.marketamerica.com/cvk

my son (18 mo) tends to get cold like symptoms a lot. . . sometimes I can connect it to teething, other times not. I think he is just easily irritated by changes in the weather and seasons. Not that he has serious allergies, but I think certain pollens and stuff irritate his sinuses and cause the runny nose and cough. He usually doesn't seem terribly bothered by it, but when he is more congested I use saline spray in his nose to help. He's not a big fan, but it does help a lot.

When babies teeth their immune system isnt 100% therefore its easier for them to catch lil bugs...there's an all natural homopathic med u can buy called "viburcol" which helps your little with teething, flu and cold symptoms, and restlessness..it comes in vials of 1ml and u can give to babies as young as one day old..fantastic stuff

I don't know what to suggest as far as a tratment but it is common for kids/babies to get 'colds' while cutting teeth. At least that's been my experience w/ my two.
