I flew from DC to Germany and it wasn't bad. I took his car seat and he slept most of the time as if he was in the car on a road trip. I took a shorter trip in the states and didn't take the car seat. He wanted to move around a lot and didn't want to put his seat belt on, ex... It was much better with the car seat then without. Good luck, you can do it!!

i flew from australia to the uk with a 15 month old and a 3 month old, by myself. It can be a little challenging, especially on take-off and landing. but the air hostesses are great in offering help and support. majority of young children will sleep the majority of the trip anyway. just a tip...on take-off and landing try to keep a dummy/bottle/something to suck on in their mouths as it will prevent their ears from popping!
all in all you should be fine! i was told you can travel on an aeroplane with a baby from 4 weeks of age.
good luck! :)

You can do it! Don't be afraid. Most flights to Europe leave in the evening and arrive in the morning, so hopefully he will sleep. Definitely buy a seat and bring a car seat, both for safety and baby's comfort. Bring lots of toddler-friendly snacks and sippy cups. Bring several non-noisy toys that don't have tiny parts that will get lost or roll under the seats. Be sure to bring a blanket because airplanes can get quite chilly. Be prepared to walk up and down the aisles with him, especially near the end of the flight. Don't let other people make you feel self-conscious. You really can't hear much from other people on a big plane anyway. And try to get both of you on the same routine as at home as soon as possible after you arrive. As tired as you might be when you get there, try to only take about a 2-hour nap in the early afternoon and then go to bed at the regular time in that time zone to avoid bad jet lag.
