How can I get my toddlers to eat?

I am having a hard time getting my toddlers to eat. Its not what I am feeding them, its just a matter of time. I had to fight with them for 90 minutes today to eat half their lunch. I have tried games, songs, a timer, and more. I am at my wits end, because letting them be hungry is not working either. All that does is lead to hunger induced nap shortages, and even crankier kids. Any ideas? :)

I have learnt one way is to give them a set time, eg 30mins, to eat their dinner and if by that time they've not eaten, then they go without until next meal time. Remove their plate from the table. They'l soon learn that it's their chance to eat!

maybe you're making it too fun and giving them too much attention. try just sitting down with them to eat have a little chat at the same time but no songs or games just gentle but firm reminders to keep eating every now and then. if you finnish first then say look mummy's finnished you have five more minutes then lunch/breakfast/dinner is over and after that time take their food away and tell them to go play meal time is over. it may take a while but i'm sure they will get the message soon enough that eating is not a game. don't get cross and try not to get too stressed you don't want that linked to meal times either be very matter of fact and relaxed as much as possable. good luck.
