My daughter is 2, will be 3 Nov 14th. We are potty training!! When she is at home or at the babysitters she does really good telling me she has to go potty. But when we go out to eat, the store, or to visit family she refuses to use the potty. How can I help/make her use the potty in public?

my son had this fear too. i started using a timer to potty train him & whenever the timer would go off he wanted to go potty nomatter where we were at even in public. he still cries a lil but he loves the satisfaction of being a big boy & geting to reset the timer.

I went to Walmart and bought my son a fold up potty seat. It opens flat to fit over the toilet seat and you can fold it up and store it in a bag. I let him pick out the design and I told him that it was going to be his special potty seat to use when we weren't at home. We always make a pit stop when we get there and another one when we leave. I also watch for the signs that he has to go. We were recently at an outdoor event and all they had were portable potties! We visited 4 times before he finally went. I promised him ice cream if he went and that helped. Some kind of reward or treat may also motivate her. Keep some chocolates or something special in your purse.

OH WOW i myself have one who just turned three she is doing well with potty training allthough we did have to do pullups when we went out. over time she just didnt want to wear a "baby diaper" anymore so if she didnt go in the bathroom when we went out we would have her wear a diaper , she hated it so much she would run to the toilet at the mere site of one.she wears "big Girl: underpants now i even bought us both ones with tinkerbell so she can really feel like a big girl . there are accidents from time to time so we carrya change of clothes just in case but the i think what did it was her wanting to wear underpants like mine and not a diaper like her little sister.

This can be a little work and planning, but I bring my daughter's potty seat (the kind that sits on the adult seat) with us everywhere we go in a plastic bag inside a back pack. Obviously I sanitize it and stuff but my daughter HATED using public restrooms before this. I always remind her "Do you need to go potty? Remember mama's got your potty seat from home in mommy's backpack" and then she'll tell me and use the restroom. Also to get her mind off the weird smells or visual dislikes of public restrooms I bring a favorite book for her to look at to get her mind off where she is. Hope this helps:)
