Please give my tips on how to make my son understand that i have to work... he's 2 yrs old now... and every time i leave for work he wants to come with me or wouldn't allow me to leave. and when i get home from work, there are times that he seems having hard feeling on me... though it easily subsides when i cuddle him up and play with him...=(

My 4 year old still doesn't understand that Daddy has to work. All the time I hear "I miss daddy". He particularly gets upset when other kids daddies are around -you see my husband works in the evenings so he is around when other daddies aren't but that doesn't seem to sink in.

I don't think kids can really understand, all they know is that they miss you

Is this the first time you have been working since he was born? It could be seperation anxiety. My son used to have it when I worked. How long have you been working? I started telling my son when I dropped him off at daycare that Mommy would be back soon and I wanted him to have fun playing with all his friends. I would get him involved in an activity before I left so that he wouldn't be so focused on my leaving him.

i went back to wrok when my daughter was 6 weeks old so that has never been an issue, however; i recently started school and that has been rough for her. luckily she has older sisters that are in school so she understands the concept. i put my backpack on, give her a kiss good bye then my daughter and her dad walk me to the front door and wave bye bye. its been our routine for about 6 weeks now and she is finally starting to grasp the idea. my suggestion is to come up with a "time for mommy to go to work" routine. maybe he can help you find your purse or keys, walk you to the door, something to make him feel a part of your leaving. and remind him you will be home soon. good luck
