My 9 mo. old has several teeth, grasps small objects, and has mastered stage 2 foods long ago. When and how do I introduce stage 3 foods/ cheerios without him gagging/choking?

I gave them to her at 9 months. I broke them in half and let her play around with them then she put them in her mouth. They dissolve quick so they wont choke. After cheerios I tried peas, then 2 weeks later carrots.. I introduced everything seperatly

I agve my daughter the Gerber Puffs first before Cheerios. They break down faster then Cheerios so they r good for little ones just starting out. Once I saw that she could handle them, I think a week or two later, I started Cheerios and she never had a problem. Good Luck and I hope this helps!

I gave my son two cheerios at a time at first and he was fine with it. He never showed any signs of gagging or choking. I think by the time they are 9 months they have the chewing motion mastered. Just try small bites and feed him slowly watching for his reaction. You can also thicken his stage 2 foods with rice/oatmeal cereal to get him use to a thicker consistency.

I just broke the cheerios into 4 pieces and he got the hang of it no problem.... We are now on to the whole thing!!
