When my daughter was a baby, I would rub her whole body ( including her bottom) down with lotion or cream after a bath and that prevented diaper rash 100%. I never had a problem with her getting a rash. Because that also builds a barrier and blocks moisture. I used an unscented lotion for the first few weeks and then started using Johnsons baby lotion. But whatever lotion that you're already using on their skin should work just as good.

it's hard to completely avoid it, but when they get it, Burt's Bees diaper cream clears it up soooo fast!

Use a barrier cream like Sudocrem which stops moisture getting through and making skin sore. I have used this with all three of my kids and always have a pot in the house. It can also be used for spots, bruises, burns cuts and grazes.
