La Leche League reccomends the don't offer, don't refuse. Imagine if your husband suddanly said he didn't want to kiss you anymore? breastfeeding for your child is nourishment and comfort. Don't cut her off cruelly. but stop offering. perhaps during times when she would normally nurse (bedtime) your husband do those routines so she doesn't have the option (out of sight out of mind).
another thing to consider, we are heading into flu season, and the best medecine is breast milk. Are you sure you want to stop now? anyway - good luck!

I knew a friend who breastfeed for 16 months and her daughter suddenly stop nursing. It'll come.

I didn't stop completely until 18 months. She just started asking less and less and a few days after she turned 18mth she never asked again! I wasn't going to force the issue until 19 or 20 months. Fortunately, it never came up. I kept lactating for another 3 or 4 months, which was disturbing, but manageable.

I have a friend who had this problem. Her final soultion, as crazy as it seems, was to put tape on her nipples! When the baby looked at her, she just shruged... she kept the tape on for several days and the little one just gave it up. You can also try simple distraction... when she wants to nurse, pick her up and move her to a different area than you were sitting at, get her involved with a toy. After several days, she may stop asking. Good luck.
