My son is just gone two and he was addicted to his pacifier too. I just got fed up, and about two weeks ago I put them all up in a tin out of reach, and only gave him one at bedtime or if he got hurt or something and really needed one. Then he actually took his last pacifier shopping and lost it in the store. That was three days ago, and the first day he asked for it a few times (nowhere near as many as I was expecting) and I just kept saying "it got lost in the store didnt it!". Today, NO mention of the dummy at all! Woohoo! It was a lot easier than I thought.

I have heard some people talk to their toddlers and set up something where you explain that pacifiers are for babies, and you can "give" them all to Santa or Easter Bunny etc to give to the babies? Maybe start talking it up now for Easter :o)

I had this issue...I talked to my daughter about giving the paci to the babies cause babies use pacis not big girls like her! Then I took it away and didn't look back! I had to work up the nerve though...I thought it was going to be hell but it was actually not that hard! :) Much better once it was over! hope it helps
