How do I get my 2 year old to stay in his toddler bed?

My 2 year old little boy has recently started climbing out of his crib and not staying in there when its bed time or nap time. So we decided to go ahead and set up the toddler bed, which we thought would be a good time considering he climbs out of his crib and all. Now he gets up 10 plus times in the middle of the night and will not stay in his "big boy bed". I don't want to put him back in his crib for I fear he will fall and get hurt. I don't know what to do. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks!!

I don't know - I am watching with interest though - and what makes it more frustrating is we've got a baby staying with us this week who just lies down in the cot at bedtime and sings herself to sleep! My son wants to sleep in our bed for ever!

I am going through this too!!! only my boy is 17 months and still in my bed room so I have a eye on him but he gets up a lot at night and come to my bed ,some nights I am so sleepy I just let him stay... But what I have been doing is what I saw on the super nanny one night lol She said to lay them down and only say a few things like its sleepy time and I love you then put them in and if they get up you put them pack in and over and over again and there will be some or a lot of crying and try not to talk to them or show your frustration.. This will take a little time. best of luck love hang in there.. your doing great!!

you could try to make it a game of prize, like potty training. Let him know that if he stays in his bed he will get a prize. Or just stick with firm parenting tell him to get back in bed.. sooner then later I would think that he would get used to it and stay in bed!
