How do I get my 2 yr old to potty train wearing pull ups

I am having trouble getting my son to potty train. He says that he has to go to the bathroom and he will take his diaper off. He will go when he wants. My problem is that I cannot get him to use the potty if he is wearing underware or pull ups. If I leave him naked he will use the potty majority of the time. Any ideas on how I can get him to go when he is wearing clothing.

I also have a two year old and although potty training was a nightmare to start with my son now has very few accidents. The best thing i did was to stop using pull ups, my son was told that he is a big boy now and that he only has a nappy to sleep in. As soon as he is up, its onto the potty or toilet and straight into pants, eventually after what seems like 100's of wet and smelly pairs of pants he eventually did not like how it felt ) leaving him in them for a few minutes after he had done anything he begn to realise he did not like feeling wet or being so smelly and now is getting to the toilet with fewer accidents. I also found that a reward chart is doing wonders, every time he gets to the toilet in time or does what he needs to and pulls his pants and trousers back up he gets a sticker on his chart, then at the end of a week he gets a reward. This has worked quite well for me, so i hope this is of some help.

Hi I have the same problem with my 2 year old. He knows when he wants to go because if I leave him with no clothes on he will use potty/toilet without being asked with no problems but as soon a I put a pull up and clothes on he wont use the potty/toilet and will just wee in his pull up

Can he dress and undress himself? If not, he needs to work on that before you worry about adding underwear or pull up. If he can I would have him run around in just underwear or a pull-up. Add the pants once he figures out the underwear or pull up.
