How do I get my 21/2 year old to stay in bed the whole nite??

He goes to bed just fine. In the middle of the nite he will crawl in to my bed every single nite. It didn't bother me before, but now with another baby on the way, I don't want him to do it anymore.

My son, who will be 3 in May used to do the same thing. He had 2 night lights, and still woke up in the middle of the night crying to come to our bed. We started leaving the hall light on, and no luck. We then left a little like desk light that sat on his dresser on all night. That worked, Since we started doing that about a month ago, he has slept in his room all night all by himself. The first week or so we made a big deal of his accomplishment to let him know how proud of him we were. It seemed to have worked. Good luck to you.

I know exactly what you mean. I had a real problem with my oldest that way. eventually he got into his routine I set up for him( dinner , bath, quiet/reading time , brush teeth then bed) it was frustrating but we did it. dont get me wrong it took almost two months of walking him back to his room (crying) and tucking him back in ( me half asleep) to get him out of it. and all kids are unique that way so you may want to ignor my time that it took us. lol, ihope I've helped. good luck!
