we started using a timer with my daughter. we set it for an hour to 2 hours after she has gone to the bathroom (in her pants or on the potty). she knows when the timer beeps, it's time to go sit on the potty and try to go. she usually runs yelling happily that it is time when the timer beeps. also, we use a sticker chart and give lots of praise. good luck!

I started with rewards. I also left my sons potty chair in a place that he was often at so when he did have the feeling to go he would use it. I had to literally let him go around the house bare bum. He did have accidents in the beginning but having him sit on the potty every hour or 30 min. after a drink or food helped. I just did not give him the option of a diaper. I let him have under wear once he got better about it because he did not like the feeling of cold and wet. I heard girls are a lot easier but I hope this helps a little bit. Oh we also made a potty chart out of construction paper and used stickers for the time ranges he went that day. One for pee and 2 for poo. Candy tended not to work, toys did not work, tho when I was little m&m's on the back of the potty worked for me to go. Also, don't get discouraged, some children go on their own when they are read. My son does have issues with going #2. He has good days and bad days but he's been partially potty trained for only 3 months. I do put night night pants on him (pull ups) for bed. He loves to hear us praise him so that's kinda what got him really wanting to be a big boy and he's proud. Hope this helps a little and Good Luck!
