How do I get my 4 year old boy to eat regular food? He likes to eat snacks and cereal. He hates veggies and any meat other than plain chicken. I have tried everything. Please help!

Don't give him snacks. My sister and I noticed the kids would eat  snacks all day so we started the "if you don't eat your lunch you don't get afternoon snack" rule. They usually eat their lunch, or they will at least eat their dinner because they are so hungry. It seems to be working. Good Luck!

My 4 year old gets a smaller plate with whatever we are eating.  He knows that is all he is getting.  I used to say just one bite of each thing...then I noticed he would eat more of one or two things if he knew we weren't badgering him about eating.  I also did the Super hero's get strong by eating healthy foods!  :)  If your child gets snacks and juice during the day he might not be hungry for dinner.  Make sure he is not getting to much during the day before dinner.  I let my son have 1 juice and one milk, the rest is water.  If he really is thirsty, he will drink the water.  :)  Sometimes bribery works too.  If I have something for dessert, I don't give him any unless he finishes what I tell him to eat.  The first time he watched everyone else have dessert while he threw a fit.  After that, he has gobbled it up every time.  Hope that helps.  :)

well i have a 4 and 2 yr old boys and they love super heros so the way that i have gotten mine to eat veggies is by stating that the only way to get big and strong like them is to eat your veggies. it's so cute because after they eat them (and it's ok that they don't eat all of them) they come to me and are so happy because they are showing off their muscles. it's worked for me....good luck

Dr Praegers ( makes these vegetable patties (broccoli, spinach, sweet potatoes) in fun shapes for kids that are actually very tasty too. I personally hate anything vegetable as well but even I will eat that and my son (14 months) loves them too. You can give it a shot.

You could try getting Jessica Seinfeld's book called "Deceptively Delicious". It shows you how to hide veggies and healthy stuff in other foods that your kids might like. I haven't been able to use it yet, because my 2 year old is so picky he won't eat most of the stuff that you would hide stuff in. I also recommend to just keep offering good stuff to your boy time and time again even if he doesn't eat it. That's what we do with my 2 year old boy and he is VERY SLOWLY but surely coming around to eat some veggies. We will also give him a little bit of something that we KNOW he likes, like pizza or sweet potato fries, and when he asks for more, we tell him that AFTER he eats his carrots (or tries cucumber or whatever) then he can have more of what he really really likes. Good luck, I know it's frustrating, but hang in there!!!!
