Keep everything in the room the same from the time he goes to sleep til the time he wakes up. Don't turn off light or music after he has fallen asleep. Big mistake. My son is almost two and self soothes himself to sleep every night without any crying. He does not take a pacifier either and never did. Make sure he is full when you put him down and if your nursing go in the room for a late night feeding right before you go to sleep. I was not a big fan of letting my son cry. As long as they feel loved and content they can sleep or just roll around until they fall asleep. I would also wait til he is about to fall asleep and then lay him in the crib, to do the rest! Good luck.

Babies have to know how to self-soothe in order to sleep all night. With my kids I let them cry. As long a nothing is wrong they will eventually realize that they are exhausted and fall back asleep. Alot of moms can't do this though because they don't want their kids to feel abandoned. My sister has an 11 month old who still can't sleep through the night because of this. I think that you have to figure out what works for your child, but the longer it takes the harder it will get.
